ABOUT US

WELCOME TO SOZO CHURCH

The church functions best not as a building or an organization but as a people, a community, a family formed around the presence of God. This is the picture portrayed about the people of God from the Biblical narrative. Loving God with all we are and laying down our lives for each other should create an atmosphere that causes people to thrive and the name of Jesus to be honored in the world around them.

TO BE A FAMILY ON MISSION, (RE)PRESENTING JESUS TO THE WORLD AROUND US.
OUR MISSION.
TO SEE THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN ADVANCE IN OUR LIVES, REGION, AND TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH.
OUR VISION.

The advancing of God’s Kingdom on earth has been unfolding since the incarnation of God in the birth of Jesus. Jesus’ central message was “the kingdom of God is in your midst, so change your way of thinking and believe the unbelievable good news!” This good news of the kingdom is our good news to both embrace and share with others. Because the kingdom of God was manifest fully in Jesus’ life, death, resurrection and current enthronement as King of kings, we are now partakers of His forgiveness, new life, and ambassadorial authority. Because the Holy Spirit was poured out at Pentecost, we are empowered to do the works of Jesus on earth as it is in Heaven.

VALUES

Sozo Church is a victorious New Covenant People whose passion is hosting the Presence of God and Advancing the Kingdom of Heaven. We journey together as a Family on Mission with the purpose of Transforming Culture.

NEW COVENANT PEOPLE
Jesus changed everything by establishing the New Covenant in His blood. Because of his sacrifice, we are forgiven, united with God, and have the freedom to approach him with boldness as His children.
“This is My blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”
(Matthew 26:28)
“By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete…”
(Hebrews 8:13)
“In Him and through faith in Him we may enter God’s presence with boldness and confidence.”
(Ephesians 3:12)
“You are no longer a slave, but God’s child.”
(Galatians 4:7)
“He alone makes us adequate ministers who are focused on an entirely new covenant. Our ministry is not based on the letter of the law but through the power of the Spirit.”
(2 Corinthians 3:6)
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.”
(2 Corinthians 5:17)
“I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them.”
(Ezekiel 11:19)
THE PRESENCE OF GOD
The Presence of God is everything to us. It has always been a mark of the people of God. As a New Covenant people, we are powered by the indwelling presence of God through Holy Spirit. We are also responsible for hosting His presence both individually and corporately as we join in what God is doing in our lives and world.
“…Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
(Colossians 1:27)
“…that you may be filled with the fullness of God.”
(Ephesians 3:19)
“And I will put my Spirit in you…”
(Ezekiel 36:27)
“If you walk by the Spirit you will not satisfy the desires of the flesh.”
(Galatians 5:16)
“…I am in my Father, you are in me, and I am in you.”
(John 14:20)
“Do you not know that your bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, “whom you have received from God?””
(1 Corinthians 6:20)
ADVANCING THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN
When Jesus came, he entrusted His Kingdom to his disciples and by extension to us. His Kingdom started small but is growing to fill the earth. Our role as His Kingdom ambassadors is to carry His Kingdom into every sphere of culture and every culture of the globe.
“The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed…[and] yeast…”
(Matthew 13:31-33)
“I confer on you a kingdom.”
(Luke 22:29)
“Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end.”
(Isaiah 9:7)
“Kingdom of God is within you.”
(Luke 17:21)
“The time has come…the Kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”
(Mark 1:15)
FAMILY ON MISSION
We see the church not as an organization or building but as the family of God united through the love of Jesus carrying out the purposes of God in the world. As such everyone has a part to play. (See Mission Statement)
“…you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses… to the ends of the earth.”
(Acts 1:8)
“Now you are the body of Christ and each one of you are a part of it.”
(1 Corinthians 12:27)
“You are members of God’s household.”
(Ephesians 2:19)
“To each and every one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.”
(Ephesians 4:7)
TRANSFORMING CULTURE
One of the marks of a healthy, vibrant church family is found in the impact they have on the world around them. We pray, “your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven,” because it is God’s desire that earth would look more like heaven. Cultural Transformation is not about control or domination, but about allowing others to encounter the love and goodness of God as his hands, feet, and heart in the world.
“For God so loved the world…”
(John 3:16)
“Your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
(Matthew 6:9)

(Acts 4:13)
“…these who have turned the world upside down”
(Acts 17:6)
“…gave us the ministry of reconciliation…therefore we are Christ’s ambassadors…”
(2 Corinthians 5:18 & 20)
